Where In The World Is...

Is it Egypt Or Someplace Else?

Is it Egypt or Someplace Else?

Wow! It has been a long year plus since I have done any traveling. But, I am sure looking forward to my next big vacation. Covid put a halt to overseas travel, but I know that we will be able to hop on a plane and see some of the wonderful sites of the world soon. That got me to thinking, where do I want to go first?

I have a list of so many places I want to visit. Let me run down my list in no particular order.

Since I am African American, I am very intrigued with Africa and all of the history this amazing country holds. I decided to investigate this. See if you agree with what I have found.

First of all, knowing that Africa is known as “the Motherland”, I thought it would be great to visit the very birthplace of the human race. But where do I want to go exactly? Think about it – Egypt, Morocco, Safari’s, Uganda, Rwanda, the Nile. So many places to go and tour.

Why Egypt?

Think of what’s there! The legendary Pyramids to start with. To think that I could be up close and in person taking in how amazing these structures are. The architecture behind them. And the wonder of how they were built. And then to see the Sphinx and the intricacies of the carvings. There are so many cities in Egypt that capture many of the mysteries of the beginning of civilization and mankind. Have any of you gone to see the Pyramids or the Sphinx? I would love to hear about your experiences.

Luxor is another place that I am thinking of adding to my Egyptian tour.  Since it is right on the bank of the Nile, I could see and experience so many different things. Ancient tombs, take a cruise along the Nile, visit The Valley of the kings.

And not to mention Mount Sinai. It is overwhelming thinking of all the different places and things I could do in Egypt alone. What to do, where to start?

But Egypt is not the only place to visit in Africa. Thus my quandary.

Another place that intrigues me is Morocco. I have heard that the lifestyle is timeless. And being a mountainous area, I am sure the scenery is breathtaking. The thought of seeing ancient cities and  palaces that are decorated in ornate tiles and smelling the spices and barrels of olives… I can see and smell it now!

And what about the one thing we all think of when we hear the word “Africa”? Yep! Safaris!

When I look at the vacation packages for these, there are so many different options. One that really caught my eye was the one that traveled to Zambia and takes you into the are of the Victoria Falls.  It also includes a private plane trip from Botswana to the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers.

Africa is so full of history and nature that it is a place that I not only want to visit but must visit.

Another country I would love to visit is the Great Down Under.

When I think of Australia, I immediately think of Steve Irwin – The Crocodile Hunter.  It would be really fun to visit the Australia Zoo and see the crocs and the legacy he built.  But that is not the only place I think of.  Sydney with it’s great Opera House. Melbourne with the art and museums and the Royal Botanical Gardens. And of course, the Great Barrier Reef.

How do I plan it?

The first thing I want to do is find a package deal. I think this will help make my trip much more enjoyable. I won’t have to worry about scheduling my flights, hotels, meals, and adventures. That’s where you come in to play. I would really love to get some suggestions from you on the best way to decide where I want to go first, and how to arrange it.

Do you use a particular travel agency that you really like? How was your experience with them?  I really want to have a great and safe vacation and one that won’t break my bank.

And can you tell me if you went to any of these places? I really want to get some great input for each of these places. I have read about them and done some research, but there is nothing that beats personal recommendations.

I know when someone asks me about my travels, I try to give them an honest opinion. There have been some places that just were not worth the money.  Not only is the budget important, but exercise is huge for me even when I am on vacation. Don’t get me wrong… I do splurge on my diet because it is my vacation after all.

Long story short, I want to hear from you. I want to know your experiences, your recommendations. The good, the bad, the ugly of your experiences. What to avoid… what is a MUST do!

Leave me a comment. And when I plan my vacation, and I get to go on that adventure, I will be sure to give you a shout out!
